The other day while at Goodwill I saw the ugliest side table with the most heinous drawer pulls. I felt bad for the ugly little $4 piece, so I decided to bring her home and pretty her up.
After removing the pulls, I gave her a coat of primer. Already a huge improvement.
Next, I painted the body black, the drawers white, distressed it with my palm sander, then put a coat of mahogany stain throughout to allow the distressed areas to stand out. I replaced the old pulls with vintage iron pulls. Now this pretty little lady is ready for her debut.

I've seen many of those ugly little side tables and left them where they were. Your color choice and handles transformed it and it is now an attractive addition to your decor. It looks great in your setting.
