These are a few of my favorite things.....

First and foremost...
"Happy Mother's Day mom, you're the best!"

Second, I had this big long post planned, but that has all changed. We went to vend at the flea market this morning, therefore woke up at 4 am. I am beyond ready to go to bed. So to avoid me falling asleep at the lap top and boring you to death, I'll keep this as short as possible.

Yesterday I went to a few tag sales to buy some additional things for the flea. I got some great stuff for great prices. Much of it still has to be refinished, but I tackled a few things for the flea.

Two of my favorite things were a chair I got for $5 and a tool box I got for $4.

The caning on the chair was ripped, so I tore it out and put a piece of plywood underneath the chair. This way, flowers could be planted in the seat. I kept it the color it was, but added some distressing to it. Because I didn't have any time to plant anything in it, I just displayed some bottles in it. I painted the tool box gray and added some vintage bottles with foliage. This is how they looked at the flea market.

I was so pleased with how well we did with sales at the flea today. We had hardly anything to pack back up. Basically a side table, two chairs, and some small miscellaneous. Would you believe me if I told you my two most favorite things of the day didn't sell...It was a sign that I was meant to keep that chair and tool box.

Here is the tool box all in its glory....(Remember the before which was $4)

And then there is the after.....

As for the chair, I planted Impatiens in it. It looks a little boring and drab right now, but once they grow, the piece should look pretty awesome.

On a quick side note, at the end of the flea market Sami and I were walking around checking out the stuff the other vendor's had. When many are cleaning up, they throw away things by the trash cans that they don't feel like lugging home. Would you believe I found this by the garbage....

It's pretty large and I plan on tackling this tomorrow. I should have the reveal by tomorrow night.

To those who are mother's, I hope you had an amazing Mother's Day and weekend.

  5. Dear Lisa,
Happy Mother's Day! I'm so excited, I'm more creative than I ever thought or believed. Last summer, I bought for $1.50, a white milk paint chippy chair with a "blown" cane seat. I did exactly as you did and turned it into a planter filled with pink geraniums. Maybe there is hope for me after all. Who knows, with your help and enthusiasm, I may accomplish another project this summer.

  14. I like how you used the toolbox to hold flowers. I originally was thinking you would paint it but use it to store tools. Why store tools in it though when you can store your own beautiful flowers.
