You know when you have that large wall space and you have nothing to put there? Well think BIG FRAME! Frames can be used to actually frame a print or for other multiple uses. I use them to frame frames or frame paintings I actually do right on the wall. Back in the spring I got the most awesome and huge frame at the flea market for only $5.
I painted it white and "shabbied" it up a bit....
Some of you may remember what I did with a frame in my daughter Samantha's room. For those of you who haven't seen it, here is a photo of what I did with a frame for her.

Fall is almost here! A sign perfect for the season
I can't believe fall is almost here. I feel like it was just yesterday that I was shoveling snow. Anyway, with fall comes mums, leaves, foliage, gourds, scarecrows, dried corn husks, and most importantly.......
I had so much fun making this sign. I love the color orange and this was the perfect excuse for me to be able to use it.
I am selling this sign if anyone is interested. It is very large and makes a huge impact. It measures 12"x47"...The cost is $50 plus $12 for shipping....You can contact me at shinarmountaindesign@gmail.com
Have a great weekend....

Shabby chic blue buffet
There was this piece at Goodwill that I debated over for a week. It was just so darn ugly. Each time I went in, it was still there, so I am thinking everyone else thought it was just as ugly as I thought it was. Finally it went to half off and I decided to suck it up and take a chance. I guess I couldn't go to wrong for $12. Worse case, I could use it for firewood...
I pulled out my favorite color....blue! Painted the piece up and thinking this might be the best $12 I have ever spent!

Vintage trunk turned table
OK, so remember the really cool vintage trunk I shared with you in it's original state?? You can read about HERE.
I think most of us agreed that it was meant to be keeping it "as is".....Well, unfortunately "as is" isn't selling that way, nor is it making me money to put gas in the car...So.....I repainted it. Hated to do it, but sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do!

Shabby chic farmhouse hutch
I have been on a roll with furniture this week. I spent the past couple of days painting a maple hutch. It looked pretty good, but personally I am not into dated wood pieces such as this. The before photo I am showing is from the actual Craigslist post I found it on. Apparently they used it as a liquor cabinet. Wonder what they would think of what I have done to it???
I painted it with a very pale blue color and distressed it. The piece is much happier now in it's after state. I don't think it liked being used to house alcohol.

Shabby chic kitchen table....
The other day I got a perfectly solid vintage maple table. The only problem with it though was that it had most likely seen better days....
I wanted to go with a funky color, but decided to stay neutral so it could go with any decor. I painted it an antique white. The bonus is that it comes with two leaves...It turned out to be a great piece.
I can totally picture it with awesome chairs and a gorgeous floral centerpiece...

Making over a vintage table with family history
Years ago my parents gave me a glass top patio table that had been theirs since they had purchased it in the 70's. I used it here and there and had sprayed painted the base several different colors. A few years back it was sprayed a deep silver. For a while though I had not used it and it sat in my shed collecting dirt and even some moss.
Anyway, I have recently decided to give it a new life and add it to my front deck. I wanted it to match my copper ice cream parlor chairs, so I gave it a copper spray.
Hope everyone had a great weekend.....

My sunflowers have FINALLY bloomed!
Every April I plant a variety of sunflower seeds. The thing I can't stand is the loooong wait until August for them to bloom. Lo and behold, they are finally here!
Reece (my 13 year old) also captured a picture of our little frog in our man made pond. Love that it is hanging onto the plant foliage sunning itself.
