Pinstripe shabby dresser

Yesterday I found a dresser that wasn't the most horrible thing in the world, but it had a sheen to it and although hard to tell from the picture, a bit dated for my taste....

No question, I saw this piece needing a few stripes, so I taped it off and got to work...

I chose the colors gray and white because I knew these would match most any decor. I figured the piece could be used in a bedroom or even as a dining buffet to store silver and linens....

2 in 1....shabby coffee table or bench....

Here I go again with the dark, heavy, ugly chunky wood. When I spotted this piece at the thrift store, the first thing that went through my head was this could work as either a coffee table or a bench.....

I chose to paint it a gray color that would appeal to all and could be used in any room of the house.....

Eclectic desk/vanity and a sign with meaning.....

For some reason most of the pieces I have been coming across lately at the thrift stores have been dated chunky wood. But, those are usually the pieces I see the most potential in. Yesterday I found a piece that would work great as either a desk or a vanity...But, naturally it was UGLY!

I had envisioned in my head how I wanted this piece to look, and it came out exactly as I had planned....

While I had the white paint out, I decided it was time to paint a sign seeing that I hadn't done one in a while. I used a saying that has personal special meaning to me....I am very happy with the way it turned out....The scrap wood I used distressed perfectly....

Unique and shabby chic

So, I have this wonderful person who found me this wonderful piece to do some magic to. It was originally a traditional wood piece very unlike my taste....

I knew some white paint and some distressing would give it a whole new look...Paired with some flowers, it has a whole new life and look....

Wishing everyone a happy healthy holiday weekend :)

Woo hoo! Sami is in print......

A while back I mentioned going to a fall harvest party at my friend Debra's from Capers of the Vintage Vixens. Her house is so amazing, that Fifi O'Neill made a second trip back to her home to feature the festival and recipes made by friends and family in her cookbook "The Romantic Prairie Cookbook".....

Debra's home made 14 pages of the book...Unbelievable! And I am proud to say that my daughter Sami made one of the pages with her homemade chocolate chip cookies...Debra and I purchased our books from Amazon. The book is truly gorgeous and inspirational....Be sure to check out Debra's blog ...You will be blown away by her gift of decorating with her flea market finds......

Shabby chic cottage dresser.....

Hey everyone! I am so sorry it has been so long since I have posted. Life has gotten in the way just a teeny tiny bit, but I hope to be posting more frequently now. Thanks to those of you who have sent me personal emails checking up on me to see where I have been. They meant the world to me....

So, onto the topic at hand...A plain boring vintage dresser....It was in great condition with excellent bones, but was in the need of a paintbrush and some TLC......

I chose a very pale gray/blue paint to brighten it up....Then distressed it resulting in perfection.....

Shabby chic cottage dresser

I found a dresser the other day with great bones, but definitely needed a makeover....

I wanted to give it a beachy feel, so I painted it a gray color with a hint of blue to it....It's a color I mixed from other paints I had laying around....Very happy with the outcome...

Happy New Year to all!
