FINALLY...a piece of furniture! Shabby chic glass cabinet

I know, I feel like it has been forever since I have posted a refinished piece of furniture. Anyway, a friend of mine gave me a great glass cabinet that was in need of some work. Here is the before:

I really wanted to brighten it up so I used a pale buttercream paint. A little distressing and voila!

Sooo cool and beautiful...

The other day I came across this in the backyard. It would make an awesome centerpiece, but I am assuming it is non transferable.. =)

I want it so badly smack dab center on my coffee table. It is HUGE! You can't tell from the photo but it measures about 2'x2'....I'll be sad when it's gone...

Sorry my projects or posts haven't been to exciting lately. I'm still dealing with "life"...Hopefully I will be back to posting on a regular basis soon....

Unique garden trellises

In my garden, I love to utilize bird baths, benches, pots, stones, and trellises. Two of the trellises I have were recycled from an old bed frame and a vintage crib. I plant morning glory seeds in the spring to grow throughout.

The bed frame is rusted to perfection.

The other trellis I use for my morning glories are a headboard and footboard from a vintage crib.

You may even remember me using this siderail from this same crib to make a magazine rack for my bathroom.

Facelift for a chandelier

A while back, I shared an ugly brass chandelier with you that I had "plans" for. Here is the before of the "ugly duckling"....

I decided to spray paint it with my favorite color of course...AQUA!! In additon, I added a few tear drop crystals. I am much happier with the after.

All it needs now are a few lightbulbs and a good home!

The story of a vintage trunk

Although I love to paint and re-do vintage pieces, I do like a
"good story" behind a piece too.

My father found yet another great and free piece for me. It is an old footlocker trunk. I was going to paint it up really cute, but the history and originality of the piece drew me in and I have decided to keep it as is.

Remeber back in the day when states were abbreviated with 3 or 4 letters rather than the 2 we use now. I totally for got that CT used to be Conn. Love that the address was handpainted on the top of the trunk and shipped like this.....

The hutch from the dump

A few days ago I shared the treasures with you that I got for free at the dump. You can see that post HERE.

So, the hutch had a broken door and the upper backside had to be pulled out. It was pretty stinky and moldy, so there was definitely some heavy duty scrubbing involved.
