Turning wood pieces into eclectic chic storage

The other day I shared a few photos of some stuff my father was given for free. In addition, he is giving me a ton of his stuff from his own collection since they are moving. Here are a couple of the photos again.

I have tackled a lot of it and will be sharing the before and after photos of two of the projects today. Here is a simple crate....

I gave it a coat of a cranberry colored paint then did some light distressing. I love how the original embossed lettering comes through.

Another fun project I did was with this heavy well made wood trunk.

The piece had character with out a makeover, but I wanted to clean it up and bit and give it a brighter appeal. I painted it a light color, then distressed it allowing a lot of the natural wood to come through.

I have a couple of fun and exciting things going on for everyone this week.

First, be sure to enter my GIVEAWAY from Cottage Ruffles...

And second, link your signs up to my second themed "Meet Me On Monday" linky party.
