We have lived in our house here in the woods for almost 13 years now. About 10 years ago, I remember RJ and Reece playing in the woods by our house in between our house and the neighbor. They were 3 and 5 at the time. RJ came running to me with a glass bottle he had found. I was so excited. It was a vintage piece.
Now, 10 years later.....I am out blowing leaves today. Since we are in the woods, and the leaves are never ending, each year I blow them back a bit further. I was in that area today that RJ and Reece were playing in 10 years ago. I suddenly felt crunching under my feet. I pulled the leaves away and found a very old bottle dump. There were hundreds!!! How could I not have known these were there all these years. Unfortunately, many were broken. I started separating the good from the bad. Here is a picture of all the broken ones.....
There were even these galvanized containers, but the bottoms were worn right out. Bummer!
I went back and forth filling bags and bringing them back up to the house. There are still a ton more to dig for, but I'm going to save that for another day. Here is what I gathered today.
Most of them are typical jars. Some of the lids say mayonnaise and another one say "10 cents" on it. I pulled a few out that were a little different and took some pics of them. I cleaned them the best I could for now. I have to get a wire brush to get at them better.
Small perfume bottle?
Ketchup bottles?
Vinegar bottles?
Cool texture on this one...
Liquor bottles?
Juice glasses
Syrup bottle?
Prescription bottle (says, "not to be refilled")
Other miscellaneous
I can't wait to get all of these cleaned up. I plan on having one heck of a vignette this spring filling all of these with fresh flowers.
On another note, I am excited to share that the HEADBOARD I posted about yesterday, sold in less than 24 hours on Craigslist. The girl who bought it said she has been typing in "queen headboard" everyday for a month. She was so excited when mine popped up for her yesterday. I didn't even get the chance to bring it to the flea market. Yay, one less thing to lug.....

Shabby chic cottage headboard
Have you ever bought something to paint then totally avoid the project? Normally I am one to check things off the list, but for some reason I bought a headboard a while back that has been sitting in the shed crying for me to paint it. I am preparing to vend at the flea market this weekend, so I finally decided to tackle it....
I got about 3 brush strokes on it, then realized I almost forgot to take the before photo. That would have been a big mistake seeing that the before and after are pretty dramatic....
I wanted to paint it a bright funky green, but then common sense hit me over the head. In order to sell this quickly, I would need to go with a "safe" color that the majority of the country would use. So I chose a buttercream. In the end, I was very pleased with the color choice.
I totally picture this in a cottage bedroom with the most gorgeous bedding and throw pillows. If I don't make a quick sale on this at the flea market this weekend, I think I will turn it into a bench.....

Oh sooooo Anthropologie...but for only $3....
Remember that really ugly lamp I showed you yesterday that I got at Goodwill the other day? With the very large gross shade? I don't know what it is, but shades from Goodwill or any thrift for that matter really gross me out. Go figure.
A little paint, some distressing, and a bit of lamp shade tearing....and you come up with this:
It would obviously look better with a more dramatic light bulb, but this is all I had for photo purposes.
Be sure to come back tomorrow. I have some pretty exciting stuff to share....

What I painted today and thrift store finds....
Wish I had more to share today, but didn't get much accomplished. I did get an amazing silver bowl, candlestick, cloche, and wood platter the other day. I painted them up and am now using them both as serving pieces. Can't believe I forgot to take the before photos, so unfortunately I can only share the afters....
I did get the chance to go to Goodwill today. I was on the hunt for furniture but had no luck. I got some miscellaneous.
This lamp needs a paint job and clearly something has to be done about the shade.
I always love finding wood candlestick holders and salt and pepper shakers. The transformation of these are usually night and day.
I'm psyched about this wood pedestal bowl. It came with the dust, goop, and all.
Typical wood shelf.....
A frame that will look awesome painted a bright color with some chicken wire added to the back.
A wooden hanging rack that will work great for display at the flea market. I think I will go with a bright color on this too.
And my best $1 find of the day was this hanging three tier rusted wire basket. This will stay as is....
I'll be sure to share the transformations with you tomorrow night.

Another vintage window~soap and perfume labels
If you read this POST, you know how excited I was to have gotten these windows.
I made this wall hanging with vintage sheet music book covers.
It was an addicting project that I had so much fun with. I decided today to make another one. This time I used perfume and soap label prints. Of course I got them from the Grahics Fairy again.
